Biography

  1. Wamala Twaibu is a vigorous advocate and analyst within health and human rights movement in Uganda, Africa and International. He holds a Master’s Degree in Refugees and Migration Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies. Has undergone several trainings in: harm reduction programming, human rights, project planning monitoring and evaluation. He serves different leadership positions: chairperson and founder of the Eastern Africa Harm Reduction Network; Country Focal Point for Uganda- Law and Public Health Network (LEAHN); Committee member of the National MAT Technical Working Group; representative of  People Who Use Drugs on the African Key Population expert working  for UNDP African Regional office; representative of  key population at AIDS and Rights Alliance for Southern and Eastern Africa (ARASA); East Africa Representative of people who use drugs on United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Civil Society Group on Drugs and HIV in Vienna and has contributed to scientific researches in Uganda as a co-investigator, co researcher and consultant for several studies in the HIV field, Harm reduction and Key Populations. He is an expert and a consultant in the areas of: Harm Reduction, Human Rights; Organizational Development; Programme/Project Design and Development; Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning; Policy Engagement; Donor Relations and Grant-Making; Transformational Leadership Development; Progressive Social Movements Building and Organizing.
